Why We Built This Site
Hawaiʻi provides several ways to inspect public court information, but Honolulu County has no county court clerk and no municipal-court tier. eCourt Kōkua is the public case-search layer. JEFS is the filing system used by registered filers, and JIMS is the underlying case-management system. Physical files and certified copies remain with the proper Hawaiʻi State Judiciary Legal Documents Branch.
That structure can be hard to read from a case name alone. Circuit Court of the First Circuit holds felony and general-jurisdiction civil matters. District Court handles misdemeanors, traffic, limited civil matters, summary possession, and small claims. Family Court maintains its own files, with access varying by case type. The site brings these distinctions, official links, contact details, case-number notes, and request steps into a county-focused reference.
What You Will Find Here
The content is based on official Hawaiʻi Judiciary materials and explains the routes a member of the public can use.
- Docket instructions: how to search and interpret criminal court dockets and civil court dockets.
- Schedule help: how to locate a setting and confirm it against an official notice.
- Case lookup details: party, Case ID, filing-date, and location search methods.
- Record access: online documents, courthouse terminals, in-person forms, written requests, and certified copies.
- Local routing: which First Circuit clerk or division keeps a given Honolulu County record.
What We Cannot Do
This privately operated resource has no affiliation with the Hawaiʻi State Judiciary, any court, or any government agency. It cannot access a sealed file, change a court date, file a document, issue a certified copy, or give legal advice. It also cannot guarantee that a portal result is complete or current.
Only the court can enter or change an order. Only the clerk that maintains the original case can authenticate its record. Readers should confirm material facts with that clerk or with the filed court document before acting.
Official records control. A court’s filed document and certified copy carry authority that a private summary or linked search result does not.
Search Partners
The search areas on content pages may display results from third-party partners. Those services operate under their own terms and privacy practices. They are not the Hawaiʻi State Judiciary, and their results are not certified Honolulu County court records.
Official public case information begins with eCourt Kōkua. A missing image or older filing may require a free courthouse terminal, the relevant Legal Documents Branch, or a written Hawaiʻi Court Records Rules request.
