Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name, Case ID, or other term entered into a sponsored search tool is sent directly to the outside provider that operates it. The provider processes the request and supplies the response. Honolulu County Court Docket does not retain or log those search terms on its own systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
If a visitor sends an email, the message may be kept long enough to respond and manage the correspondence. It is not shared beyond the organization unless disclosure is required by law.
Data We Gather Automatically
Standard technical details may be recorded when a page loads.
- Internet Protocol address
- Browser name and version
- Device type and operating system
- Pages viewed and time spent on them
- Referring website, when available
- Date and time of each request
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files saved on a device. They and analytics services can show aggregate traffic patterns, such as popular pages and exit points. Browser controls can block cookies, although parts of the website may then work differently.
What We Do With This Data
Collected information may be used for the following operational purposes.
- Operating, securing, and improving website performance
- Routing a sponsored query to the selected provider
- Understanding which pages visitors use
- Diagnosing errors and technical problems
- Displaying advertising that may reflect visitor interests
No Court-Record Data on File
Honolulu County Court Docket does not host, maintain, compile, or sell a database of court dockets or personal case records. It publishes general directions to eCourt Kōkua and the Hawaiʻi State Judiciary clerks and courts that hold First Circuit records. Public court access is governed principally by the Hawaiʻi Court Records Rules, not by this private website’s privacy policy. Visitor information is not assembled into consumer reports, and the site is not a consumer reporting agency under the FCRA.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies power sponsored search boxes. Information submitted there is handled under that provider’s policy, including its own retention and disclosure rules. Those practices are outside this website’s control, so the provider’s privacy notice should be reviewed before a query is sent.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to Hawaiʻi Judiciary pages, eCourt Kōkua, legal-aid resources, and outside services. Once a visitor follows an external link, the destination’s privacy terms apply. Personal information should be submitted only after those terms are reviewed.
Some advertising services may track activity across websites to select ads. That tracking occurs through their systems rather than the official Hawaiʻi State Judiciary.
Who Might See Your Data
Personal information is not sold. Limited data may be available to:
- Search providers that process a submitted query
- Analytics vendors that measure traffic and performance
- Advertising networks that place ads
- Government or law-enforcement authorities acting under a valid legal demand
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable, commonly used safeguards protect the information collected. No internet service can promise absolute security, however, and no guarantee can be made that unauthorized access or a breach will never occur.
Users Under 18
The website is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. Information identified as having been supplied by a minor may be removed.
Your Data Rights
Rights can vary with a visitor’s residence and applicable Hawaiʻi privacy or consumer-protection law. A visitor may ask to:
- Receive a copy of personal information held about them
- Correct inaccurate personal information
- Delete personal information when applicable
- Opt out of certain processing where the law provides that choice
These choices concern visitor data held by this private site. Requests for a Honolulu County court record must instead follow the Hawaiʻi Court Records Rules and go to the Judiciary custodian.
Updates to This Policy
This policy may be revised as practices or legal requirements change. A new effective date will appear here when an updated version is posted.
